WHAT IS CRANIOFACIAL SLEEP MEDICINE?
Craniofacial Sleep Medicine is a unique field of medicine practiced by specially-trained dentists in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The leading cause of obstructive sleep apnea is a deficiency in the development of craniofacial anatomy. The goal of treatment is to correct the underlying anatomical deficiency using a non-surgical, non-pharmacological, treatment modality.
The natural process induced by biomimetic technology remodel the airway tissues, resulting in enhanced airway capacity. Our multidisciplinary treatment protocol involves collaboration between physicians, specially-trained dentists with advanced training in craniofacial sleep medicine, and other ancillary healthcare providers. We work to treat the root cause of OSA by non-surgically remodeling and repositioning the hard and soft tissues that comprise the human airway. Hard and soft tissues of the craniofacial complex can be non-surgically remodeled and enhanced using the proprietary Vivos System® devices and clinical protocols.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?
Unlike traditional dentistry, orthodontics, or general medicine, the Airway Institute specializes in the entire airway and addresses the overall health and wellness of the patient. We look at a variety of different diagnostic points and assess every aspect of the patient’s physiology. We are one of the only practices in New Mexico, and the only in southern New Mexico, that is integrated with Vivos® therapeutics as well as Myoaligners® and specializing in this type of advanced non-surgical intervention.
We are able to perform specific imaging of patient airway function, far beyond a traditional practice. Our facility is one of the most advanced in the state, offering treatment on the cutting edge of sleep apnea issues and airway wellness.
